EVE Organization was established on August 13, 2005 and was officially registered with the Humanitarian Aid Commission (HAC) on January 15, 2006 in Khartoum, Sudan, and in 2008 in Juba, South Sudan. The Organization has its headquarters in Juba, South Sudan.

EVE has 8 dedicated staff. It also has a number of dedicated volunteers and interns.

EVE Organization was founded with the aim of empowering women and addressing challenges that hinder women’s progress in South Sudan. Empowering women involves advocating for policy changes that will adequately address women’s concerns, ensure women’s peace and security and socio-economic stability, and also support their participation and inclusion in decision making and peace processes.

EVE Organization pursues this goal of empowering women by using UNSCR 1325 and other related resolutions including CEDAW and the human rights framework to advocate, lobby and build capacity of government, Civil Society Organizations, and the general public to achieve gender equality, reduce gender based violence, improve livelihood, and promote the inclusion of women in decision making and peace processes.

EVE organization is committed to challenging the negative attitudes towards the female gender and recognizes the importance of strengthening an advocacy oriented civil society that can both support and hold government accountable.

Our approach

1. Policy Advocacy and Monitoring

EVE Organization works closely with different government institutions and the National Parliament to advocate and lobby for women issues. While EVE engages with grassroots, it is important that the voices from the grassroots reach the policy makers and the concerned government institutions. It is for this reason that EVE has made advocacy and lobbying core aspects of its programs.

2. Training and Awareness for Capacity Building and Community Mobilization

“Knowledge is power”….Our training and awareness programs aim at empowering and developing capacities of both women and men within South Sudan and the diaspora to enable them address women issues, particularly women’s participation  in nation building and the prevention of gender based violence. This is done through training, workshops, open air activities and mass media engagement. In addition, EVE is currently in the process of developing a database on sexual and gender based violence (SGBV) that can be used as a practical assessment tool for interventions.

3. Communication

EVE uses media for communication. It also uses other creative ways of sharing information like brochures and the publication of a magazine to change attitudes of people towards the female gender. EVE’s main mode of media communication is through the FM stations talk shows since EVE wants to ensure that communities are engaged in the conversations

4. Livelihood

In addition to EVE Organization’s working on building an advocacy oriented CSOs network in South Sudan and contributing to the creation of an enabling environment for women through partnership with different stakeholders, EVE also engages in programs that give practical support to women in different livelihood projects. Some of EVE’s livelihood projects include agriculture.

5. Send me back to School

A program dedicated to girls school dropout who are willing to enroll to School. We support by giving school books, uniform and pay school fees. We also give moral support to encourage them to continue with their Education.

6. Charity Activities

We don’t only advocate and train, we believe in giving…we put a smile on the face of needy women and their families by our charity work. Come December of every year, we go out to the villages with our team, we volunteer, we give and we celebrate together. You can contribute to our charity by volunteering, giving used clothes, shoes or money.

7. National and International Networks

EVE Organization is continuously building networks both at grassroots and national level with other CSOs within South Sudan who are interested in the welfare of women in South Sudan. EVE Organization also challenges South Sudanese Women in the diaspora to concern themselves with issues within the country and to positively contribute to the nation building process. EVE is widening its network within the region as well as globally.

At the national level, EVE Organization is a member of the National NGO Forum while at the global level; EVE is a member of the Global Network of Women Peace builders (GNWP) and the Civil Society Platform for Peace building and State building (CSPPS).
