EVE Organization for Women Development, through the UNICEF-supported project in Mundri County, Western Equatoria State, conducted a two-day training workshop from October 10 to 11, 2025, aimed at enhancing the capacity of non-GBV actors to effectively respond to and refer cases of gender-based violence (GBV) within their communities.
The training brought together 20 participants, including nutrition staff, chiefs, police officers, prison wardens, youth leaders, and women leaders. These groups serve as crucial entry points in the referral pathway for GBV survivors, ensuring that survivors receive timely and appropriate support.
The workshop sought to strengthen understanding among key stakeholders that addressing GBV requires collective commitment. Participants gained practical knowledge on how to safely refer survivors to essential services such as health care, psycho-social support, case management, and protection services.
The sessions also equipped them with skills on how to provide initial support to survivors who disclose experiences of violence, thereby improving community-based access to life-saving services.
Officiating the opening of the training, Mr. Julius Nyerere, County Health Director, commended EVE Organization for its continued efforts to address GBV in Western Equatoria. He emphasized the importance of collaboration among different sectors to reduce GBV and encouraged participants to share the knowledge gained with their respective communities to foster wider awareness and prevention.
“Addressing gender-based violence is not the responsibility of one sector alone,” said the Director of Health. “It requires collective action from all of us the health workers, the police, the community leaders, and every citizen to ensure that survivors are supported, protected, and empowered to live free from violence.”

Through initiatives like this, EVE Organization continues to strengthen community structures that promote women’s rights, safety, and dignity, ensuring that survivors of GBV are met with care, understanding, and action.
