In a landmark initiative to promote peace, healing, and justice, EVE Organization for Women Development successfully led a series of radio talk shows on Transitional Justice across South Sudan under the Just Future Project. The program was aired in key towns including Juba, Torit, Yambio, Wau, and Mundri, engaging diverse communities and amplifying local voices in the national conversation on peacebuilding.

The radio talk shows provided a dynamic platform for public engagement and civic education, focusing on the vital role of transitional justice in South Sudan’s journey toward lasting reconciliation. Each episode featured legal experts and civil society representatives, fostering inclusive dialogue and raising awareness on critical issues affecting the country.

As South Sudan continues to face the long-lasting impacts of conflict, transitional justice mechanisms remain essential in addressing past human rights violations and ensuring accountability, particularly for crimes committed against civilians during the armed conflict.

Each broadcast explored the four pillars of transitional justice; truth-telling, reparations, justice (accountability), and institutional reform, as outlined in Chapter 5 of the Revitalized Agreement on the Resolution of Conflict in the Republic of South Sudan (R-ARCSS). These discussions helped communities gained a deeper understanding of transitional justice processes and their significance in national recovery.

The program aimed to empower citizens, particularly women and youth, by educating them about their rights to participate in healing processes and encouraging active engagement in discussions on justice, peace, and reconciliation. Interactive segments and live call-ins enabled community members to share perspectives, ask critical questions, and learn how to contribute meaningfully to national recovery efforts.

One listener from Torit, who wished to remain anonymous, said.

“Hearing experts explain my rights and how I can contribute to justice makes me feel part of the country’s healing process. It gives me hope for the future.”

Through this initiative, EVE Organization reaffirmed its commitment to inclusive transitional justice, ensuring that the voices of affected communities, especially women, youth, and marginalized groups are heard and integrated into peace and justice processes.

By amplifying women’s voices in truth, peace, and justice efforts, EVE continues to lead the way in building a more just, peaceful, and empowered society in South Sudan.
