Eve Organization has completed the successful recruit of the 2023 cohort of volunteers as the organization continues its endeavour to create an environment for peaceful and empowered women in South Sudan under the Leaders of Peace, a project funded by the Kingdom of Netherlands.

With believe that gender equality and peace are paramount for progress and development, Eve Organization is shaping the future of 10 young women who recently graduated from different universities. The five-day training from 2 to 6 September 2023 not only equipped these young women with essential organizational skills but also introduced them to the United Nations Security Council Resolutions 1325 and 2250, along with other relevant frameworks addressing youth, peace, and security as well as women, peace, and security.

Under the visionary leadership of the Executive Director of Eve Organization, Rita Lopidia, these ten fresh graduates have been given the chance of a lifetime to contribute to a more peaceful and equitable South Sudan. The importance of this opportunity is emphasized by the fact that since 2018, Eve Organization has trained and deployed over 60 volunteers, many of whom have been retained by major organizations and offered permanent employment due to their capabilities, good conduct, and outstanding performance.

The foundation of the Volunteer Programme lies in the belief that young women can be change-makers, peacekeepers, and ambassadors for gender equality. The five-day training session was a transformative experience for these women, equipping them with crucial organizational skills and deepening their understanding of the importance of peace and security. The focus on UNSCR 1325 and UNSCR 2250, which promote the inclusion of women in conflict resolution and peace-building efforts, was a pivotal part of their training. It’s not just about empowering women; it’s about empowering them to become agents of positive change in their communities and beyond.

Rita, the driving force behind this initiative, urged the young women to focus on two key aspects: career development and maintaining a good reputation. With the knowledge and skills acquired during their training, these women are now set to embark on a three-month volunteer journey, where they will be assigned to various organizations. As they step into the professional world, they are expected to be well-prepared, confident, and capable of making a substantial impact.

The success of the Eve Organization Volunteer Programme is a demonstration to the organization’s commitment to nurturing young talent and fostering gender equality. By empowering these women and instilling in them a sense of responsibility and leadership, we are contributing to a more prosperous and peaceful society.

The impact of this initiative goes beyond the immediate benefit for these ten young women. By focusing on the principles of UNSCR 1325 and UNSCR 2250, Eve Organization is contributing to the broader global efforts for gender equality and peace. The retention of some previous volunteers by major organizations is evidence that this approach is not only valuable but also essential.

As the young women venture into their respective volunteer assignments, they carry with them the torch of change, exemplifying how investment in the empowerment of women and the promotion of peace can lead to a brighter, more secure future. The Eve Organization Volunteer Programme is not only shaping careers but also shaping a better and inclusive South Sudan.

In a time where gender equality and peace are pivotal, the Eve Organization’s Volunteer Programme is lighting the way for young women to create a better future. It is a testament to what can be achieved when women are empowered with knowledge, skills, and opportunities.
